From time-to-time and between jobs, it pays to practice. Below are a selection of personal storyboards.

First up two quick 6 panel storyboards.

Next is a storyboard in grey-scale that I completed depicting the scene where Dr Watson meets Miss Stapleton on the moor from Conan Doyle’s ‘Sherlock Holmes – Hound of the Baskervilles‘. Miss Stapleton mistakenly believes that Dr Watson is Sir Henry and pleads with him to leave the moors and return to London immediately. Watson is shocked by her state and the forcefulness of her entreaties. Her brother returns after endeavouring, unsuccessfully to capture a rare moth and her demeanour suddenly changes.

The following storyboard is a proposal for a TV commercial for the Suzuki Ignis. The Ignis is a Japanese city car with a distinctive face that resembles a Pug or an Anime character. The target market of this TVC proposal are Millenials and the concept behind this storyboard is one that evokes the uncomplicated fun of retro or 8 bit-gaming, which fits the Ignis’ origins and looks. Here, the Ignis is situated within a virtual world of falling brightly-coloured Tetris blocks and Space Invaders where it must weave between the falling blocks and Invaders.

Below are the roughs for the Suzuki Ignis TVC proposal.

Below is a storyboard I completed some time ago in grey-scale for a for a sequence where an astronaut makes his way to an escape pod to with moments to spare before his vessel explodes after a critical hit.
